THE HOLIDAYS AND DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILYS

Vintage,Home

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:2

Christian
Today marks Thanksgiving Day here in Canada!

A time where loved ones gather around the table. Where joy and peace reign . A time where hearts are turned towards thankfulness, gratitude and love towards one another.

Oh the joy! Oh the fellowship!

A time of prayer to God our Father from Whom all blessings flow!

For many, reality hits during the holidays. Reality of the Family Tree and the dysfunction that is marked throughout the 'bark'.

The holidays can become a stressful time, a hurtful time, a painful time, a lonely time.

It can bring the worst out in people!

Old wounds brought up, painful pasts lived out, words that damage hearts.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

This was evident in our household yesterday.

Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I can testify that the holidays can bring the worst out in people!

I've lived it. I've experienced it. I've also caused it at times.

I want to thank all of you that prayed for my family and I yesterday.

For God truly did more than we could have asked or imagined!

Prayers were answered.

Oh beloved ones, God IS so good.

This morning I was meditating upon God's restoration, His transformation upon my family's lives.

Grace reigned yesterday.

Peace reigned yesterday.

From God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I know what it is like to be surrounded by family members and wanting to be sick to my stomach. I know what it is like to sit at the dinner table where there is back biting, cursing, swearing, and tears flowing.

I know what it is like not to be invited to family holiday functions. Not to be wanted. Not wanting to associate with me.

He has prepared a table before me. Psalm 23

SIGH....

I stand in awe of God's love.

I stand in awe of God's power and glory.

SIGH...God's Word does NOT return to Him void.

What He says, He DOES!!

It sounds like your dinner went well. There is always something to throw a wrench in holiday celebrations by someone who just needs to be an irritant. I have learned to just ignore and be grateful for time well spent with people who I love.

Blessings to you and your family Angela on this Thanksgiving!

This morning the thought came on me
" God rains down courage and peace, when we are in the refiner's fire "
I notice in your post also COURAGE and His PEACE.....
That it will fall unto you on your family always!

The holidays are very depressing for me. I'm not invited to my family's events and I'm reminded that I'm an "orphan"....thankfully I have Josh.
