BEING CONTENT IN MY LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD

My new little corner I've made in the rec room.

The lazy boy chair that my brother gave to Asher. It was in his bedroom.

Now it's in the rec room.

This is where I sit when I spend time in the rec room.

This is where I will go through magazines and cut out inspirational words and pictures for my Chore Journals and Inspirational Journals I sell.

I used to sit on the other side of the room in the wing back chair.

I love how the lighting 'softens' things.

This is another room that is in progress. Three quarters of this room needs to be gutted. Hence the lacking of a wall behind my chair.

I RARELY spent time in the rec room.

When I ran a daycare from my home, this room used to be for nap time. After the daycare children would leave, later in the evening I would head upstairs to bed to watch tv.

I hated being downstairs.

It was depressing for me to look at my surroundings.

I think about Saint Paul when he was in prison.

"Rejoice in the Lord. Again I say rejoice!" Philippians 4:4

Talk about being content, no matter how his surroundings were.

Randy has even been rearranging the rec room.

As I type this out, he's busy rearranging in the garage now.

lol.

Building new cupboards.

He is always trying to find ways that will help make his work space more efficient.

I love that about him.

The Jetliner was 7 dollars at a yard sale.

Those blue pillows on the couch. I picked up 8 of them for a total of 2 dollars. Talk about matching the couch perfectly.

The 'LOVE' pillow cost me a total of 50 cents.

The lamp was three dollars.

The sewing basket cost me 2 dollars.

The diner tray (I got three of them) cost me one dollar.

The rug cost me 75 dollars. I believe the woman paid close to 500 dollars for it. It's HUGE!

The little 'curtain' behind my chair was a bed skirt that I had cut up and used as valances for my windows in the rec room. I have part of it now in the laundry room as a skirt for my concrete sink. CRAFT ROOM PEEK and TREE WHERE?

The bed skirt cost me a total of 50 cents. It was a queen size!

The leather couch (both ends recline) my parents gave us.

your right, I LOVE the leather couch! I never thought I would like it as much as I do. It's awesome!

Before I got the recliner downstairs, Randy would sit on one side of the couch, I would sit on the other and Tigger, the toy poodle would sit in the middle.

One of my New Year's Resolutions (and quite a few years praying about it) was to spend more time in the rec room.

Out of the seven days, I probably spend about 3 to 4 days down there with Randy these days.

It's really nice.

When he watches a show I couldn't care less about (which is often, lol), I will go through the magazines and look up to the TV when he wants to show me something. I ooohhh and aaah! lol...

I love it.

Oh and Rebecca thrifty style at 63
Randy does like having me downstairs with him..lol He said yes when I asked...lol.

Off topic now from the rec room, I was walking upstairs and turned my head to see this.

It made me smile.

I loved how the light (will have to show you a pic of it soon, oh my goodness gracious, I love that light) made the bathroom look.

So of course as any amazing blogger would do, I went downstairs to get my camera.

Since I have learned to be content with my surroundings, this bathroom is a HUGE demolish needed.

I mean, right down to the studs folks.

sigh.....

I am so praising God all this has happened now because if I had to deal with what I'm dealing with now years ago, I would have LOST it! Oh ya, over the edge for  sure. Without a doubt.

I haven't been able to take a bath for about 8 months now. Praise God I can take showers, lol.

Until we can rip it all apart, I clean it  and make the surroundings are as pretty as I can.

Not waiting for the 'dream' or the 'vision' of the new bathroom to make my surroundings nice, but 'using well what I have been given' (Matthew 25:29)

One of these things is not like the other. ...I'm singing that song from Sesame Street.

Two pictures. Identical. Except in this picture above, something is missing.

Can you tell me what it is?

Blessings.

Yep! A little tube of something on the shelf is missing :)

Learning to be content with what is and what we have is a MAJOR contributor to peace in the home and joy in the heart, I have found.

God HAS given us EVERYTHING we need for life and godliness. Everything.

Oh my gosh! I would die without taking a bath once in a while!LOL! I know what you mean about waiting. My kitchen is the pits. Dark brown cabinets, dark brown formica counters and a 1970 floor that has dings, and little holes all over it..It has all but lost its color so it is between a creme and a light gold. I hate it all. However, I work with what I have and try to make it nice. One day I will get the kitchen of my dream...sigh.....
